Kos is a flat, green, bicycle-friendly resort island with a medieval castle at the harbour, a Turkish coastline four kilometres away, and a summer population drawn from every charter airport in Europe. It is not Mykonos and does not want to be, but the sheer number of visitors gives it something Mykonos also has: nobody is local, nobody is watching, and a couple at dinner is the most ordinary sight on the island. Anyone searching for escorts in Kos will find a modest seasonal supply and, out of season, nothing at all.

Kos town and the resorts
Kos town is the harbour, the castle, the plane tree of Hippocrates and a bar street that runs late all summer. Most visitors stay elsewhere: Kardamena in the south is the party resort, Tigaki and Marmari on the north coast are family beach strips, Kefalos at the far end is quiet. For a discreet booking the town hotels and the large resorts at Psalidi and Lambi are the simplest; Kardamena is anonymous but loud.
Hotels
The Kos Aktis Art Hotel on the town seafront and the Kipriotis resorts at Psalidi are big, well-staffed and used to every kind of guest. The large all-inclusive properties along the north and south coasts are anonymous by scale. Avoid the small pensions in the old town for a separate arrival; they are pleasant and observant. Kardamena’s hotels are relaxed about everything except noise, of which there is a great deal.
A companion from Athens
Flights from Athens take fifty minutes and run several times a day in summer, with the airport in the middle of the island twenty minutes from town. A companion arrives for two nights or more on a day rate, ticket quoted with the booking. In August the flights fill, so give the office a few days. Evenings on Kos
Eat in Kos town away from the harbour front: Petrino in a stone mansion above the agora, or the tavernas in the old Turkish quarter. Zia in the hills is the sunset village and a pleasant early evening for two. The bar street around Nafklirou in town is the main event and utterly indifferent to who is with whom; Kardamena’s clubs are for a different age group. A boat day to Nisyros or across to Bodrum makes a longer booking worth it.
