Santorini is not Mykonos. Mykonos is built for nightlife and does not care who you arrive with. Santorini is built for couples, honeymoons and sunset photographs, and it notices. Anyone searching for escorts in Santorini has usually already discovered the problem: the island is small, the season is short, and almost nobody is actually based there.
We are a Mykonos agency. The two islands are forty minutes apart by fast ferry in summer, and a good part of our Santorini bookings are exactly that: a companion who takes the morning boat from Tourlos and comes back two days later.
Why Santorini is harder
Three reasons. The caldera hotels in Oia and Imerovigli are cave houses with shared terraces and a manager who knows every guest by name; a stranger walking in at eleven at night is noticed. The island has almost no late-night scene outside Fira, so there is no natural cover of “we met at a bar”. And the local classified listings you will find are thin: a handful of numbers, several of them the same operator, most of them travelling in from Athens on demand and charging you the flight.
None of that means it cannot be done well. It means the hotel matters more than usual and the companion must be someone who has done island bookings before.
Which hotels handle it discreetly
The larger properties along the Kamari and Perissa beach side, and the resort hotels above Fira with their own entrances, are far simpler than the caldera cave houses. A companion arriving as “my guest for dinner” at a hotel with a proper reception and a restaurant is unremarkable. The same arrival at a six-room cave suite in Oia with one manager is a conversation you do not want.
If you are set on the caldera, book a suite with a private entrance and tell the office the layout when you enquire. We have companions who have stayed in Imerovigli before and know which terraces are overlooked.
Bringing a companion from Mykonos
This is how most of our clients do it. The SeaJets and Golden Star fast ferries run Mykonos to Santorini several times a day from June to September, two hours or less, and there is a direct flight of thirty minutes on some days. A companion who comes for two nights is on a day rate, and the ferry cost is hers to quote before you agree. She arrives on the boat like any other visitor, checks in as your guest, and the island sees a couple. That is the whole trick.
Outside the season it is harder. Ferries thin out in October and stop being daily in winter, so an off-season Santorini booking usually means a companion flying from Athens rather than crossing from Mykonos. The office will tell you which is realistic for your dates.
Evenings on the island
Dinner in Oia at sunset is the cliché and it is crowded for a reason; book a table at Ambrosia or Roka a week ahead if you want it. For something quieter, the tavernas at Ammoudi bay below Oia serve fish at the water and are dark enough after ten. Fira has the only real bars: Tango for cocktails on the caldera edge, Koo Club and Enigma later. Kamari’s beach road has a more relaxed, less watched atmosphere for a first drink.
Wine matters here. A visit to one of the Pyrgos wineries in the afternoon with a companion is one of the few things on Santorini that is both memorable and entirely unremarkable to anyone watching.
